There are tools out there like Anki which provide a really good algorithm and interface for reviewing things. Spaced repetition is a great way to memorise things. It's not exactly the best tool for understanding and evolving thoughts but it's good for reviewing concepts and memory etc.

The intention for this system is to review concepts and change them through a changelog ish way. I also want it to live in obsidian because I don't want to add another app or interface to do this. I live here, I want it to stay here.

The flow would look like this:

  1. Explore a concept
  2. Write a mini essay on it
  3. Set a timer or date to review
  4. When that time comes, review the concept or essay
  5. Add changes or thoughts if necessary
  6. Reset timer (if I want to)

There are a few "ifs" in there. I don't want this to be a must. I want it to do the thing without forcing me. It should be interest driven. Unlike a stricter form of study, this is leisure not labour.

The plan is to add a tag like #review/2024-04-15. And have a page generated containing the pages that I should have reviewed. Example pages

  • Page A: #review/2024-04-15
  • Page B: #review/2024-02-28
  • Page C: #review/2024-03-03
  • Page D: #review/2024-04-10

Given that the current date is 10 April 2024 (2024-04-10), on this generated page I should see B, C and D. 1

Footnotes

  1. Might have an "upcoming" section as well
